BAR #3 Change: Feb 21 Now at Gravelstoke “Pie in the Sky”

  • San Elijo Fountain San Marcos, CA 92078 (map)

BAR #3 will align with Gravelstoke’s Pie in the Sky ride on Feb 21, replacing the original standalone plan. The focus remains pacing over long distance, targeting ~65–70 miles.

This ride shifts slightly from earlier base work. You can push the pace in a controlled way and pay attention to how effort and fueling line up. Stay within yourself—steady breathing, smooth pressure on the pedals, and avoid riding above your limit.

The route includes ~7,000 ft of elevation, making it solid preparation for longer endurance events.

Distance options:

  • ~65–70 miles (primary BAR intent)

  • 55-mile option — still includes the pie, skips the Preserve lollipop

  • 24-mile “No Pie in the Sky” option — for limited time or fitness

ABOUT THE BIG ASS RIDES

This is the time of year when a lot of riders are building volume and getting ready for long events like G&W, Rock Cobbler, BWR, and similar.

This is considered a workout ride because we’re intentionally minimizing stops. That’s different from a social ride, where regrouping and keeping everyone together is the priority. Ideally, find a rider or small pod and ride steady together, stopping for water or breaks as needed.

There’s no charge for these rides, and they’re self-supported.
